Getting started
Bring your world
Already playing somewhere else? Upload your world, or a whole server folder, as a .zip and we put it in place, with a backup of your current world first.

Stop the server first, then use World in the Settings tab. A .tar.gz works too, and it replaces the current world. You can download your world as a backup file any time.
How your friends join
Copy your server's address from the server page.
In Valheim, choose Join Game, then Add Server, and enter the address.
Connect and type the server password.

Default port 2456/udp. The address on the server page already has the right one.
Questions about Valheim servers
How many players can join?
Up to 10, which is Valheim's own limit for a dedicated server.
Does the server need a password?
Yes, Valheim needs one. Leave it empty and we make one for you.

Can I use mods?
Not yet. Valheim servers run the game without mods for now.

Is my world backed up?
Yes, every day, and you can make one yourself whenever you want.

Valheim saves on its own every 20 minutes by default, and a backup holds its last save. Restore any backup from the server page. Backups don't use your server's disk.

Yes. Bring your world: upload your world files as a .zip and we put them in place, with a backup of your current world first.

Stop the server first, then use World in the Settings tab. A world is a .db and a .fwl file. If you upload one world, we set World name to it for you, so the server opens it. A whole server folder from another host works too. You can download your world as a backup file from the server page any time.
