Terms of service
Last updated
These terms apply when you create an account on Moonshard Games or use a game server from it. By creating an account you agree to them. Read them together with the privacy policy and the refund and withdrawal policy.
Who provides the service

What the service is
You rent game servers. Each server is a container on a machine in the European Union, with a web console, resource usage, settings and daily world backups. You choose the game and how much memory the server gets; CPU and disk come with the memory.
Game names and artwork belong to their owners. Moonshard Games is not affiliated with or endorsed by any game publisher. Some games need you or your players to own a copy of the game to join: that is between you and the publisher.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- Give a real email address and keep it up to date: we send billing, security and service messages to it.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including servers and charges created by people you let in.
- One person per account. Don't create accounts to get around a limit or a suspension.
Credit, prices and billing
- The service is prepaid. You buy account credit by card; payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are in US dollars and exclude VAT or sales tax, which is added at checkout based on your billing address. Stripe issues an invoice for each payment.
- A server is charged by the hour from your credit for as long as it exists, whether it is running or stopped, at the hourly price for its size shown on the configure page. Deleting the server stops the charges. The hour a server is created, resized or deleted in is charged only for the time at each size.
- Bonus credit, when offered, is added on top of what you pay. It can only be spent on the service and has no cash value.
- Credit does not expire while your account is open.
- If your balance falls below zero, we may stop your running servers until you add credit. Stopped servers keep their data and keep being charged until you delete them. A negative balance is settled from your next payment.
- We may change prices. A new price applies from the time we publish it, and we tell you by email at least 14 days before it affects a server you already have.
How to withdraw from a purchase and when unused credit is refunded is set out in the refund and withdrawal policy.
Acceptable use
Use your servers for running games. Don't use them, or let your players use them, to:
- break the law, or host or share content that is illegal where you or the server are;
- infringe copyright, for example by distributing pirated games, mods or other people's content;
- attack, scan or flood other systems, send spam, or run proxies or VPNs for others;
- mine cryptocurrency or run workloads that are not a game server;
- interfere with other customers' servers or with the machines they run on.
You are responsible for what happens on your servers, including what your players do and the mods, plugins and files you install.
Your worlds and files
Your worlds, settings and files stay yours. You let us store, copy and back them up only as far as needed to run the service.
We back up worlds daily and keep recent backups, but backups can fail and are not a guarantee. Download your world from the server page from time to time if losing it would matter to you. When you delete a server, its files are deleted and its backups follow about a week later.
Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep servers running, but we don't promise any particular uptime. Servers can be unavailable during maintenance, hardware failures or network attacks: we don't offer dedicated DDoS protection. We may improve, change or remove features; if a change takes away something you pay for, we tell you in advance and refund unused credit on request.
Suspension and closing your account
- We may suspend a server or an account that breaks these terms, puts other customers or our machines at risk, or when the law requires it. We tell you the reason by email unless we are not allowed to. A suspended server is not charged, and you can still download its world.
- For serious or repeated breaches we may close the account. Paid credit you haven't used is then refunded, unless the law lets us keep it.
- You can close your account at any time by emailing support@moonshardgames.com. We delete your servers and personal data as described in the privacy policy and refund unused paid credit.
Liability
If something goes wrong because of us, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event, and we are not liable for indirect losses such as lost profit, lost data you could have restored from your own copy, or losses of your players.
These limits don't apply to damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, to personal injury, or where the law doesn't allow them. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away your rights under consumer law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. For changes that affect your rights or what you pay, we email you at least 30 days before they take effect; if you don't agree, you can close your account before then and get your unused paid credit back.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Swedish law. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country, and you can bring a claim in its courts.
Contact us first at support@moonshardgames.com and we will try to sort it out. Consumers in Sweden can also take a dispute to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (Allmänna reklamationsnämnden, arn.se).
